Food Theory #3: The BEST Homemade Fried Chicken!

Heyy! Foodies of the Internet, I'm back after my break. There were a few things which needed to be sorted out and the fact that the university has started, has gotten extremely busy. However, I'm back to writing up New Food Experiences and am going to do so regularly from now.

(Just me failing my final year, cause food is more Important!)

Now, as the title suggests! Fried Chicken, one of the most loved foods in the world. KFC is the first name we think of when we hear fried chicken, however, there are other alternatives which are popping up, if you know what I mean! Very Recently, Popeye's Fried Chicken Sandwich has gained popularity and rightly so, from what I've heard it's Heaven Like. (This is a Kid-Friendly Blog ;p)

There are still a few concerns on whether people can go out and eat food or order food through food delivery portals like Swiggy and Zomato due to the Corona Virus Pandemic is starting to spread at an exponential rate every day. Now, I haven't actually done any of these as it's been almost 5 months since I have gone out to eat or have ordered food in.

And this was a real dilemma from me because I really wanted to eat fried chicken and KFC is the only real fried chicken we get here as Fast Food, the other alternative we have is Burger King's Fried Chicken, and I'll have to admit it, it's better if they stick to just burgers and cheesy fries.

(Listen to the Legend Himself!)

While other restaurants don't always have the best-fried chicken. Hence, I thought why not make fried chicken at home. Obviously, it will be an experience but also hopefully, this will also reduce my reliance on other restaurants to get fried chicken!

Now, the recipe is something that is a mix and match between multiple different recipes that were available online. So, here is my recipe for the crispiest and the most tender fried chicken you are going to eat, which is going to make you forget KFC

Ingredients:

Chicken (Skinless) Maybe Boneless according to your preferences.

Spices (Chilli Powder, Pepper, and maybe some Garam Masala according to your taste)

Herbs

Curd/ Buttermilk (To help the chicken become more tender)

Oil

All-Purpose Flour (Maida) or Breadcrumbs (For extra Crispness)

Ice Cold Water

The Magical Process of Making Heaven ;D

Yes, I know you can't make heaven. However, you can get close to it with Fried Chicken!

Now, take the chicken pieces and mix in the spices, herbs, and the curd in sequential order which will help marinate the chicken and will not only make it tender but also will be seasoned thoroughly. Let it rest for a few hours to get the most flavour through.

Now, you can use the flour which should have the spices and herbs mixed in it to give the external coating the seasoning required to go from Good to Voila (C'est Magnifique).

At this point, in time you are wondering why you need ice-cold water? Because usually you can use an egg coating to get a crispy chicken piece, however cold water works as shock therapy and can be used instead of an egg coating.

Now, use the marinated chicken and mix it thoroughly with the seasoned flour once for a single-layered single-layered coating, put it in the ice-cold water and then mix It again in the flour seasoning and make sure you don't have an excess flour due to it having unnecessary flour which can ruin the taste of the scrumptious chicken.

Its time to cook now, if you have a fryer that'd be the easiest way to cook the chicken if not take a cooking vessel and add some oil and start heating it up!

After which gently put the flour-coated chicken in the fryer and cook it until its golden brown, so that it's cooked thoroughly (We don't want any health issues especially not now) and is juicy and tender.

(And we don't want this!)

And there you go the best Fried Chicken you'll ever have, do enjoy it with a cool glass of your favourite drink, whether it be a Cola drink or fresh fruit juices. This will certainly reduce your dependency on any other restaurant and is definitely healthier, relatively.
