Mango Pickle or what we Telugoons call Avakayi, the summer delight we all love, we send it to our family and friends abroad, one of the most popular dish in our Culture and Tradition.

It has been in our tradition for centuries and it is done every summer. When grandmother says its that time of the year to make the best part of the Summer(Apart from Mangoes, subtle foreshadowing).

The process of cutting raw green mangoes into small pieces.

Mix it in with a variety of ingredients; Salt, Red Chilly, Oil to name a few.

Firstly, those mango pieces, you see are quite small but can be cut down even more and the second point it isn't too much spice, it is just right for the perfect amount of Avakayi.

Now, this is extremely famous all over the world, so Konni Batches of Avakayi Mana Akka Thammudlu ki Pampchadaniki(A few Batches of Pickle are going to be sent to our Brothers and Sisters throughout the world)

And the process begins, what a person needs is a Big Spoon/Cutlery to mix the ingredients, a lot of time and a strong arm to be able to mix it thoroughly.

(Just a Second of the Avakayi Action!)

After mixing it thoroughly, you cover up the container/tub up and let it rest for some time. At this point in time, we add another essential element, Garlic. Yes Garlic, It gives that extra touch to go from just ordinary Pickle to Avakayi!

So yea, this post was just to inform the people about Avakayi and what it is and how it is made and why it is found in every household in the world, whether you are Telugu or Not.

If you're still having trouble understanding the difference, go through this blog post again ;)

Please Stay Safe and Have a Great Day. Byeeeee!!

P.S: A small edit, Avakayi is made in the Indian Summer(Late March to Mid June) but is enjoyed throughout the year! Also, the older the Avakayi gets the better it becomes, just like a fine wine drink. Cheers!
